Add Bluetooth to Almost Any Device
The MR285 is a comprehensive and highly versatile audio adapter and converter. With 4 cable connections the MR285 boasts inputs for AUX, RCA, coaxial and optical audio cables with AUX and RCA output.
Any of these cables can be sent or received via the Bluetooth 5.3 transmitter or receiver modes giving you complete freedom to connect your TV wirelessly to Bluetooth headphones, or have your phone apps play on your old wired sound systems!
The MR285 also supports NFC on-touch connect, so you can pair and reconnect NFC phones to access your music on wireless devices in moments.
Example and Use Cases:
My beautiful old sound system doesn’t support Bluetooth, but all my music is streamed on my phone!
In this case, you can connect the MR285 to your sound system with either AUX or RCA cables. Set the MR285 to “Rx” mode to receive audio from Bluetooth. Connect your phone to the MR285 in the phone’s Bluetooth menu and your old sound system will play your streamed music.
My TV doesn’t have Bluetooth so I can't connect to my new headphones!
In this case, you can connect the MR285 to your TV with AUX, RCA, optical or coaxial cables. Set the MR285 to “Tx” mode to transmit the audio over Bluetooth. Pair your new headphones with the MR285 by having them both in pairing mode and within 10cm (they can, of course, be moved away from each other once paired!). Now your old TV will send the audio over Bluetooth to your new headphones!
My TV uses optical cable but my speakers use 3.5mm!
Using the wired bypass mode, you can have the MR285 function as an optical to AUX converter. Simply connect the optical cable and the AUX cable both to the MR285 and ensure it is in passthrough mode. Bluetooth will not be used, and you will achieve higher fidelity audio direct from optical to AUX.
I want to play my music on both my new stereo speakers at once
The MR285 has “Multipoint” connectivity which allows multiple Bluetooth connections. You can DJ with a friend by connecting both your phones, or you can connect one device to two speakers or headphones at once! Pair one device at a time and wait for the status LED to signal multipoint is engaged. You can then send audio to both devices.
Every Mode Made Clear
Built for everyday use, the MR285 is designed to clearly communicate the current connection and status. The full-colour screen allows easy identification of connection type, while the status LEDs on the front of the device provide specifics on which audio cables to connect.
USB Playback Wirelessly
For the first time, connect a USB stick with your own music directly into the Bluetooth adapter to play wirelessly without needing a cabled audio input! Use the MR285 truly wirelessly with the USB stick and Bluetooth transmission to speakers or headphones.
Bluetooth Adapter for Car, Home, Anywhere!
At under 110 grams and only 10cm long, the MR285 is incredibly portable. It can sit in a car, on a windowsill, on a TV cabinet or be carried in your pocket! The 12-hour battery life enables constant use while travelling or away from power. Recharge in 3 hours using the USB-C cable.

Why can I not connect my devices?
If you are unable to achieve the configuration you need, please switch the “Rx” / “Tx” switch on the side of the adapter, and then cycle connections until the correct status LEDs are lit showing your cable connections.
Please remember that Coaxial and Optical cables are for audio input only.
Why did audio quality drop?
The MR285 includes a microphone for taking calls over Bluetooth from appropriate devices. When the mic is engaged, audio quality will be lessened as the adapter must transmit and receive along the same connection. This occurs in any Bluetooth enabled two-way communication device but can sometimes be more or less noticeable.
How is this different from MR280?
The key differences are that MR285 has an internal rechargeable battery for wireless use, and that the MR285 can support USB playback. The MR285 also features a wider range of combinations as it features coaxial as an audio input option. The MR280, however, has optical audio input and output, while the MR285 only has optical input.
